The Painting - King Harry Ferry in Twilight - by artist Chris Peacock
King Harry Ferry in Twilight

Details – Acrylics on 16 x 20 inch Canvas Board

Description

As discussed previously in The Draw of Water, we all find water fascinating. I like many, am also fascinated by large machines and if you mix them with water… well picture it!

I was returning from a great day on the Roseland peninsula when the sun was setting in spectacular fashion over Trelissick on the opposite bank. The thin bank of cloud diffused the gold sunlight across the sky and the river shimmered around a sword of white reflected light that stretched towards us. And in this setting the King Harry Ferry hauled its way towards us. The odd yet familiar shape strangely reminiscent of some ancient war horse, its booming and clanking punctuating the tranquility of the evening. It was a lovely atmospheric scene and I hope I’ve given you a glimpse of it.
