The high pastures of Cabuérniga in Cantabria. A magnificent part of Spain that rises up from its beautiful river strewn valley to the high plateau above that gives far reaching views to the Picos de Europa. I was struck by the these beautiful horned cattle that are peculiar to this region. The scene with the sounds of their bells as they peacefully grazed in cool crystal clear mountain air amongst the vivid and giant flowering thistles was a real effort to pull yourself away from. But they were glad we left them to it.
