I am largely a self taught artist living within the United Kingdom in the county of Cornwall. A favourite tourist destination, renowned for its beautiful rugged coastline, small sandy coves and quaint fishing harbours. An area of Britain that offers a wealth of material for me as an artist, most often drawn from it’s shoreline.

You cannot visualise Cornwall and detach it from the sea. It is quintessential to any understanding of this place. So no surprise that although my subjects vary, they predominantly focus on Cornish coastal landscapes. However I paint a variety of landscapes from across the UK and elsewhere. I also include other subjects like portraiture and still life.

I paint in an impressionistic style that is free from realistic minutiae, allowing the viewer to explore and establish the scene before them. For these, I use acrylic or occasionally oil paint, brushed on a surfaces such as canvas, MDF, artist quality paper or rag.

You can browse my paintings here at your leisure and I hope they bring you some of the pleasure I experienced in creating them. Essentially, I am not a commercial artist and I choose to paint what I enjoy rather than what I think will sell. However of course, like any artist, I am very happy to see my work appreciated and go to a loving new home.
