The painting Nanjizal Becalmed by Chris Peacock
Nanjizal Becalmed

Description

This coastline of Penwith is magnificent. Framed in stacks of granite, deeply gouged with turquoise seas swirling below and interspaced with pristine sandy coves. Nanjizal is well known for its narrow keyhole arch that aligns with afternoon sun flooding the archway’s cavern in light. The appearance of the cove changes as with the mood of the sea, sometimes more boulders than sand and vice versa but it’s always a beautiful sight to come across for walkers of the coastal path. This route pictured, is along the lengthy grass track which descends down from the road. On the day depicted it was unbelievably calm even in the afternoon. The ponies we met just reciprocated that air of peacefulness. Just the murmuring of the sea below.
