Fading Miracles

Details – Acrylics on 16 x 20 inch Canvas Board

Description

This painting was originally intended for the an upcoming art exhibition that will be held in Truro Cathedral in May. More about this group exhibition in my next post but the theme for this exhibition is “Nature and Creation”. The demise of the jaguar in the rain forests of South America is typical of the effect our species has on life in all corners of the earth. We speak of the miracle of life as if it applies exclusively to humans. No one has yet discovered the reason why a bunch of minute atoms decide to group together to form a living object. Every living thing is a miracle when you consider it and yet many of these miracles are slowly disappearing by our own actions. That was the idea behind this piece. A sort of reminder of what we are losing. The miraculous living things set within the vitals for life: water, air (oxygen) and sunlight. Sobering to think you could add the absence of humans to that list for the most. Although I liked this idea for a painting but it didn’t really come off so I have pulled it. Still, I like aspects of it and thought it worth sharing. I may try exploring it more later but I need to crack on for now.
