Ceremony Of The Phoenix – Original Painting & Giclée Prints

This is a large contemporary painting of sunset at Trevellas, a piece of coastline within the St Agnes Heritage Coastline in Cornwall. The colours of the scarred and alien looking cliffs are augmented by the leaching of minerals from long ago mining activities. During the beautiful sunset of the day, the stretch of coastline looked in flames and in amongst the folds of molten rock, I could with a little imagination, see a Phoenix rising. True, Cornwall has enough myths and legends but I liked the idea and it suited the surreal surroundings and so it arose.
