The Painting - Careless Grazing by Chris Peacock
Carelessly Grazing

Details – Acrylics on 12 x 16 inch Multimedia Artboard

Description

Recently, I took a walk from Carnewas along that beautiful stretch of coastline there. Further along, near Park Head, I came across a small flock of sheep on a piece of headland. It struck me how peaceful their grazing contrasted within the perilous surroundings. How they persisted to graze close to the cliff edges and out to the very points. The sunshine splashed on the grass around them while the cliff face in comparison, seemed dark and ominous. The relatively calm sea was still swirled noisily on the rocks below. The was a juxtaposition to the scene that appealed to me. So I decided to paint this as a sketch and trial the idea. However I think I might just leave it at that. I like the loose aspect of the work. But we’ll see. Perhaps one to chip away at in the new year. But this is probably my last painting for 2025. So I hope you all have a really lovely Christmas and my best wishes for a very Happy New Year.
