Autumn can provide dramatic effects when heavy clouded skies are fractured by low sunlight traversing the Cornish coastline. I wanted to capture some of the essence of that spectacle using watercolour rather than my usual acrylics. I chose watercolour because it is such wonderful medium especially when depicting scenes involving water. It does it by itself almost, you just move the medium on the paper and enjoy the effect. Personally I feel, good quality watercolour paper also has to be one of the loveliest surfaces available to artists. It’s so receptive to the paint. I really would like to use them a lot more going forward.
